First e-Ballots Cast in the Preston By-election

Elections Nova Scotia – Yesterday, July 20, 2023, voters in Preston were able to cast their ballots in the current by-election for the first time on a secure table using Elections Nova Scotia’s new e-Ballot system. 30 votes were cast via e-Ballot yesterday, July 20, between 9 am – 6 pm at the Preston returning office.

Elections Nova Scotia – Registered voters in Preston will receive a Voter Information Card (VIC) in the mail this week with information and where and when to vote in the by-election.
Elections Nova Scotia has redesigned the VIC to make it more accessible for voters. Each registered voter will receive a personalized postcard style VIC.

Elections Nova Scotia – Nominations for the Preston by-election close today, July 19 at 2 pm. Early voting before the close of nominations is done using the write-in ballot format. When nominations are closed, early voting will switch to Elections Nova Scotia’s new secure E-ballot system.

Elections Nova Scotia – Elections Nova Scotia would like to remind voters in Preston that the deadline for candidate nominations for the current by-election is 2 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
The Elections Act requires nominations to close 20 days before election day, which will be Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Elections Nova Scotia – Eligible voters in Preston who wish to vote by mail can apply on-line at electionsnovascotia.ca for a write-in ballot. A write-in ballot is the remote voting option available to eligible voters in the Preston By-election. To vote by write-in ballot, a voter must first apply, then receive, complete, and return their write-in ballot kit. When a voter applies to vote by write-in ballot, that is the form of voting they must use.
