Elections Nova Scotia – Early voting for the Preston by-election is open today on the civic holiday, Monday, August 7 from 9 am – 6 pm. Voters can cast their ballot today on the civic holiday at any returning office at 293 Main Street in Dartmouth. This is the last opportunity for voters in Preston to cast their ballot early in the by-election.

Saturday, August 5, is the last day for the community poll. The community poll is located at 2345 Highway 7, East Preston. It is open for early voting from 9 am – 8 pm on Friday, August 4, and 9 am – 6 pm on Saturday, August 5.

Elections Nova Scotia – Voters in Preston who have applied to vote by write-in ballot for the by-election are reminded to return their completed ballot to be counted. To count in the by-election, all completed write-in ballots must be received by 8 pm on election day, Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Voters can return their completed write-in ballot in-person to the returning office, 293 Main Street, Dartmouth, or have an agent return it on their behalf.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dorothy Rice issued an Order to the Nova Scotia Liberal Party on August 1, 2023. That Order required the Liberal Party and their candidate for the Preston electoral district by-election, Carlo Simmons, to, by 12 am August 3, 2023, remove all signs and cease distribution of any campaign materials which do not accurately reflect the facts involving a potential C&D processing facility in the Preston community.
