Write-in Ballot Reminder

Media Release: Tuesday, August 17, 2021

Elections Nova Scotia – Voters who have applied to vote by write-in ballot are reminded to return their completed ballot.

To count in the election, all completed write-in ballots must be received by 8 pm tonight, Tuesday, August 17.

Voters can return their completed write-in ballot in-person or by agent to their returning office. Returning offices can also arrange to have a write-in ballot team pick up a completed write-in ballot if a voter is not able to return it. Voters should call their returning office as soon as possible to make arrangements.

It is not too late to apply to vote by write-in ballot. Applications for write-in ballot can still be made in-person or by agent through returning offices. The deadlines to apply for an in-district write-in ballot in person or by agent is 3 pm today, Tuesday, August 17th.

An agent is someone who is 18 years or older that can act on behalf of an eligible voter. They can assist the voter to apply for a write-in ballot and can return the completed write-in ballot for that voter.
