Elections Nova Scotia – To be eligible to vote in the 41st Provincial General Election, you must be 18 years of age or older on election day, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, a Canadian citizen, have lived in Nova Scotia since January 17, 2021.

All registered voters will receive a personal Voter Information Card (VIC) in the mail outlining the different options to cast their vote. Eligible voters can be added to the voters list when they vote.

There are many options to vote safely. In Nova Scotia, eligible voters can vote safely anywhere during the early voting period. This means that before election day voters do not have to vote in their electoral district, they can vote early at the returning office or a early voting location in any electoral district in the province.

The returning offices are open Mondays to Saturdays from 9 am – 6 pm. Community Polls will begin on Saturday, July 31 and the advance polls will run from Saturday, August 7 to Saturday, August 14. There is no voting on Sundays and returning offices are closed. On Thursday, August 12 and Friday, August 13 there will be extended hours for voting at all early voting locations until 8 pm.

On election day, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, voting will be open from 8 am to 8 pm. On election day, voters may vote safely at their assigned voting location or the returning office in their electoral district.

Voters can also apply to vote by mail using a write-in ballet. The application for a write-in ballot is available on-line at electionsnovascotia.ca. Voters can call their returning office if they have questions or need assistance with the write-in ballot process.

COVID precautions are in place at all returning offices and voting locations to ensure voter safety. Voters are asked to wear a mask, sanitize their hands, maintain physical distance and bring their own pen.
