Returning Offices are Open for Early Voting in the Provincial General Election

Elections Nova Scotia – Early voting for the 42nd provincial general election starts today, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at returning offices. Voters in Nova Scotia can vote early at any returning office that is open in the province.

To find a returning office, voters can enter their address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on Elections Nova Scotia’s website (electionsnovascotia.ca).

The following returning offices have delayed openings for early voting:

ED 16 – Cumberland South

ED 26 – Halifax Armdale

ED 27 – Halifax Atlantic

ED 30 - Halifax Needham

ED 44 – Preston

ED 48 – Sackville – Uniacke

Voters in these electoral districts can vote at the returning office in any neighbouring district.

All returning offices in the province are open to accept candidate nominations.

Returning offices are open every Monday to Saturday from 9 am – 6 pm, closed on Sundays. On Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, returning offices will be open from 9 am – 8 pm. On election day, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the returning offices will be open from 8 am to 8 pm.

There are 24 days of early voting available in the 42nd provincial general election. Early voting before the close of candidate nominations on Wednesday, November 6, will be done by write-in ballot at returning offices. After the close of candidate nominations, e-Ballot will be used for early voting at all early voting locations. Voters can cast their ballot on a secure tablet at any early voting location using e-Ballot. On election day, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, voters may vote at their assigned voting location or the returning office in their electoral district. Traditional paper ballots will be used on election day.

Eligible voters in the provincial general election must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years or over, and have lived in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024 (six months before the date the writs of election were issued).
