Notice of Election – Provincial General Election 2024

Elections Nova Scotia – A Provincial General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, to elect members to serve in the House of Assembly. The following days are pursuant to the Elections Act.

Early Voting Options
Prior to election day, eligible voters can vote at any early voting location in the province. Early voting in-person before the close of candidate nominations will be done using write-in ballots. Early voting in-person after the close of nominations will be done by e-Ballot. Voters can also apply to vote remotely by write-in ballot.

Open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm
Closed on Sundays
Open for extended hours on Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, 2024 from 9 am to 8 pm
Open on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 8 am to 8 pm

Advance poll
Saturday, November 16 – Saturday, November 23, 2024
Open from 9 am to 6 pm
Closed on Sundays
Open for extended hours on Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, 2024 from 9 am to 8 pm

Write-in Ballot
Voters in Nova Scotia can apply to vote remotely using a write-in ballot. Voters can apply for a write-in ballot to vote or have a trusted friend or family member act as the voter’s agent to help them apply. Returning offices can also arrange to have a write-in ballot team visit a voter at home. Once a voter has applied to vote by write-in ballot, that is the method of voting they must use. Write-in ballots are conducted every day except Sundays during the hours returning offices are open.

The application deadline for a write-in ballot by email is Saturday, November 16, 2024 by 6 pm.
The application deadline for a write-in ballot in-person or by agent is Tuesday, November 26, 2024 by 3 pm
All completed write-in ballots must be returned by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, to be counted.

Election Day
Tuesday, November 26, 2024
8am to 8pm
On election day, voters must vote at their assigned voting location or the returning office in their electoral district.
Voters can find their election day voting location by using the ‘where do I vote’ tool on Elections Nova Scotia’s website (electionsnovascotia.ca).

Candidate Nominations Close - Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 2pm.

Eligible voters in the Provincial General Election must be: a Canadian citizen, 18 years or over, and have lived in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024 (six months before the date the writs of election were issued).
