Electoral District Association suspended

June 29, 2018

Chief Electoral Officer Richard Temporale has suspended the Queens-Shelburne NDP Electoral District Association (EDA) effective today.

Under Section 198 of the Elections Act, an electoral district association shall be suspended if it fails to file an annual financial report or an annual update of registration. The EDA did not file an annual report or annual update of registration.

While suspended an EDA is not permitted to accept a contribution or make or receive a transfer.

The EDA must meet the requirements of the Act on or before July 29, 2018 or face deregistration effective that date.

The EDA has been notified that they will be provided an opportunity to be heard before the effective date of deregistration.
