Final Early Voting Stats for the Provincial General Election/h3>
Media Release: Tuesday, November 26, 2024
Elections Nova Scotia –Monday, November 25, 2024 at the returning offices was last early voting opportunity for voters in Nova Scotia. This report summarizes the final early voting stats for the 42nd provincial general election.
Early voting in the provincial general election began on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 when the returning office first opened. Early voting at the retuning office before the close of candidate nominations on November 6th was done by paper ballot using the write-in ballot format. 10,188 early votes were cast before the close of candidate nominations. On Thursday, November 7, 2024, e-ballot began for early voting.
Please note, once an application for a write-in ballot is processed the voter must vote by that voting method and is therefore considered struck off the voters list so they cannot vote twice by trying to also vote in-person. Therefore, a processed write-in ballot application is considered an early vote but may not result in a completed write-in ballot kit being returned by the deadline, 8 pm on election day.
As of as of Sunday, November 24, 2024, there were 788,427 registered voters in Nova Scotia.
The total number of early votes cast included in this release reflects the sum of votes cast at the returning office continuous poll, advance polls, community polls, and the number of write-in ballot applications processed.
Returning office continuous poll, as of Monday, November 25, 2024: 107,812
