Reminded VICs are not needed to Vote

Media Release: Wednesday, November 20, 2024

Elections Nova Scotia – Eligible voters in Nova Scotia can vote if they have ID with their name and civic address but ID is not necessary. If a voter does not have ID with their current address or name they can opt to sign a declaration attesting to their eligibility.

Due to the postal strike, voter information cards were not printed for the 42nd provincial general election but a VIC is not necessary to vote.

Voters can easily find an early voting location near them or their election day voting location by calling their returning office, calling the public call centre at 1-800-565-1504, or entering their civic address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on Elections Nova Scotia’s website (electionsnovascotia.ca).

Eligible voters in the provincial general election must be 18 years of age or older on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, a Canadian citizen, and have lived in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024 (six months before the writ of election was issued).

Voters in Nova Scotia that have questions about the Provincial General Election can call 1-800-565-1504.
