Deadline Tomorrow to Apply for a Write-in Ballot Out of District

Elections Nova Scotia – There is one day remaining for voters in Nova Scotia to apply out of district to vote remotely using a write-in ballot for the current provincial general election.
It is important for voters in Nova Scotia who want to vote remotely to understand the deadlines to apply for a write-in ballot and when and how to return their completed write-in ballot kit so it can be counted.
The deadline to apply for a write-in ballot out of district is Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The deadline to apply for a write-in ballot in person or by agent in district is 3 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
All write-in ballot kits must be returned before the close of voting on election day to be counted, that is, 8 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Voters in Nova Scotia are asked to please allow adequate time to their write-in ballot can be returned by the deadline.
With a postal strike currently on it is important for voters not to put completed write-in ballots in the regular mail system. Voters should contact their returning office to make arrangements to have completed write-in ballots returned.
Voters in Nova Scotia who need assistance can ask someone they trust who is at least 18 years old to act as their agent to help them apply for and return their write-in ballot. Voters can also call their returning office to arrange for a write-in ballot team to visit them at home.
