Bring ID When You Vote in the Provincial General Election

Media Release: Thursday November 14, 2024

Elections Nova Scotia – Voters in Nova Scotia should bring their ID with their name and current address when they vote in the provincial general election. Having ID makes voting fast and easy, but these are not necessary to vote.

Eligible voters in Nova Scotia can register when they go to vote. If they do not have current ID with their correct name or address, they can take an oath to attest to their eligibility.

Eligible voters can vote without a VIC. A voter can be added to the Nova Scotia registry of Electors when they vote with ID or they can take an oath to attest to their eligibility.

Eligible voters in the provincial general election must be 18 years of age or older on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, a Canadian citizen, reside in Nova Scotia, and have lived in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024 (six months before the writ of election was issued).
