Media Release: May 15, 2024

Elections Nova Scotia – All registered voters in Pictou West should have received a personalized voter information card (VIC) in the mail for the current by-election. VICs include information on where and when to vote. Voters in Pictou West should remember to bring their VIC and ID when they vote.

Elections Nova Scotia has redesigned the VICs to make this easier for voters to understand. The new VICs went through an accessibility review and have been received well by voters.

Eligible voters in Pictou West can vote without a VIC if they have ID with their name and civic address. If an eligible voter in Pictou West does not have ID with their current address or name they can opt to sign a declaration attesting to their eligibility. If a voter receives a VIC with errors in it, they should bring it with them when they vote and have their information updated on the list of electors.

Eligible voters in the Pictou West by-election must be 18 years of age or older on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a Canadian citizen, reside in the electoral district of Pictou West, and have lived in Nova Scotia since October 21, 2023 (six months before the writ of election was issued).

Voters in Pictou West that have questions about the by-election can call the returning office at 1-888-575-8901.
