Extended hours for Early Voting in the Pictou West By-election

Elections Nova Scotia – The Pictou West by-election has extended hours for early voting until 8 pm today Thursday May 16 and tomorrow Friday May 17, 2024. The returning office and advance poll are both open today and tomorrow from 9 am – 8 pm. Extended hours provides more time for voters in Pictou West to take advantage of early voting.

Early voting at the Pictou West returning office and the advance poll is done by secure e-Balloting. E-Balloting allows fast counting of early votes when the polls close on election night. This means the results of the Pictou West by-election will be returned quickly and efficiently. E-Balloting will only be offered during early voting. Traditional paper ballots will be used for voting on election day.

Early voting at the advance poll location ends on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Early voting is closed on Sunday, May 19, 2024. On Monday, May 20, on the Victoria Day holiday, early voting will be available at the Pictou West returning Office, 49 Pine Tree Road. The returning office will be open for regular hours from 9 am to 6 pm on the Victoria Day holiday.

On election day, Tuesday, May 21, voters in Pictou West may vote at their assigned voting location or the returning office. Voting will be open from 8 am – 8 pm on election day. Voters can find their election day voting location on their voter information card (VIC) or by entering their address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on the Elections Nova Scotia website (electionsnovascotia.ca).

Eligible voters in the Pictou West by-election must be 18 years of age or older on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a Canadian citizen, reside in the electoral district of Pictou West, and have lived in Nova Scotia since October 21, 2023 (six months before the writ of election was issued).
