Extended hours for Early Voting in the Preston By-election

Media Release: August 3, 2023

Elections Nova Scotia – The Preston by-election has extended hours for early voting until 8 pm today Thursday August 3 and tomorrow Friday August 4, 2023. The returning office and community poll are both open today and tomorrow from 9 am – 8 pm. Extended hours provides more time for voters in Preston to take advantage of early voting.

Early voting at the Preston returning office and the community poll is done by secure e-Balloting. E-Balloting allows fast counting of early votes when the polls close on election night. This means the results of the Preston by-election will be returned quickly and efficiently. E-Balloting will only be offered during early voting. Traditional paper ballots will be used for voting on election day.

On Monday, August 7, on the civic holiday, early voting will be available at the Preston returning Office, 293 Main Street, Dartmouth. The returning office will be open for regular hours from 9 am to 6 pm on the civic holiday.

On election day, Tuesday, August 8, voters in Preston may vote at their assigned voting location or the returning office. Voting will be open from 8 am – 8 pm on election day. Voters can find their election day voting location on their voter information card (VIC) or by entering their address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on the Elections Nova Scotia website (electionsnovascotia.ca).
